It was confirmed to me by none other than Alamid's vocalist Carl McFly that his band will be the opening act for U2 when the latter play their first ever show in the Gulf State of Qatar
in October 2011. Carl had been posting some photos of U2 and Alamid on his Facebook page with the caption "Like I said--Dreams come true!....OCTOBER 2011, Qatar," which led me to think they did land up with the holy grail of gigs. So I asked him and he was coy at first but eventually said I got it right. I was a bucket of emotions when I read that but I really can't be any happier for the guy, this couldn't be more apropos!
